the heart is like a pin cushion. every time someone special enters your life, a pin is inserted into your heart and it takes up a space in it. how long the pin stays in is indefinite. it could be a day, ten days, ten years or even until the day you die. it all depends on how your fate with that person plays out. but one thing is for sure, once someone leaves your life and the pin is taken out, a small space is left behind. no matter how insignificant the size of the hole, the point is that there is a hole. eventually the hole will close up, and any mark of the pin being there might be gone forever. it always hurts to have someone leave your life, but you know what hurts more? wondering how it would feel to have that one person enter your life cos you somehow know that this one person might never enter your life at all.
Remember tonight, for it is the beginning of always. A promise. Like a reward for persisting through life so long alone. A belief in each other and the possibility of love. A decision to ignore, simply rise above the pain of the past. A covenant, which at once binds two souls and yet severs prior ties. A celebration of the chance taken and the challenge that lies ahead. For two will always be stronger than one, like a team braced against the tempest civil world. And love will always be the guiding force in our lives. For tonight is mere formality. Only an announcement to the world of feelings long held. Promises made long ago. In the sacred spaces of our hearts.
if not for anything, your* company alone was good enough to make this one of the most perfect nights ever. if only things were different, we might actually happen.
